Get Fit With a Personal Trainer

Are you a member of a gym and designing and running your own fitness regime? Do you find yourself staring at the various personal trainers in the gym 'helping' their clients'? And do you find yourself wondering whether the 'expertise' on offer is all something about nothing? Are these guys and girls who employ a personal trainer wasting their time and money, or do they know something that the rest of us don't. Is the x pounds an hour they part with, money well spent? I believe that it is and here are seven reasons why:
1. Safety - a personal trainer is highly important in ensuring your safety in the gym. There are a thousand stories of people hurting themselves in their quest to get fit or lose weight, through over-exertion or misuse of equipment. A Personal Trainer is a specialist and he or she can help to keep you safe. His knowledge of your body together with his knowledge of the different equipment in the gym is beyond price.
2. Structure - a personal trainer can structure your regime so that it is effective and focussed. He or she can help you set targets and achieve your fitness objectives. This is especially relevant if you are new to the gym experience. Quite frankly, where do you start. As a minimum I would suggest that you pay for an introductory programme. This is a one-off lesson run by a qualified expert.
3. Support - sometimes it is difficult to motivate yourself and stay with it through the tough times. Likewise sometimes confidence fails and we fall down. A Personal Trainer will pick you up and keep you motivated. Ironically, the price of such a service can often help to maximise your overall return on what you spend on your health and fitness.
4. Discipline - we are not all masters of self-discipline. We need someone who will keep us up to the mark. When we are slacking, he or she can keep us focussed on the task in hand. When it is easier to give up, simply the presence and support of someone else dedicated to our objectives will make the difference.
5. Injury or disability - the complications of a specific injury or a disability will often make designing any fitness or exercise regime extremely difficult. A Personal Trainer's expertise in this situation is often indispensable. It is extremely important that any programme for an injured or disabled person takes account of their individual situation.
6. Challenge - if you have been attending a gym for a while and things seem to have stalled, someone who knows what they are doing can re-design and monitor your programme so that it becomes challenging and effective once again. Remember, it is their job. It is what they do for a living.
7. Non-gym work - perhaps you do not want to attend a gym. In which case you need someone a Personal Trainer can get you fit without the inconvenience of having to go somewhere. He or she will often visit you and provide equipment.
This is what I rather mischievously call the magnificent seven. In fact, I can think of one or two other reasons why a get fit expert is a good idea but if I were to include them in the list I would not be able to refer to the magnificence of the list. Seriously, if you are considering a fitness regime and you can afford the extra costs, a Personal Trainer will maximise your return on what you are already laying out on a gym subscription.
